Overview
ROLE OBJECTIVE:
Manage the progress of new home construction and warranty from start to finish in multiple communities within the Division. Accountable for the construction and warranty schedules and timely integration of construction trades, material, documentation and staffing. To meet customer commitments to deliver defect-free homes on time and within budget. Evaluate projects according to schedule, specifications, and budget to exceed customers’ new home expectations.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Monitor and evaluate the progress of construction programs through regular review with Superintendents. Respond to any issues that arise and provide guidance to ensure these are resolved and quality is maintained.
Through regular review with the Quality Assurance Coordinator, accountable to ensure Empires’ standards for provision of warranty service work are maintained.
Ensure that homes are built to requirements and specifications established by construction drawings, Design Centre change options and upgrades, buildings codes and Empire standards.
Through the Superintendent, responsible for the measurement and evaluation of quality control with respect to materials and workmanship through the regular review and monitoring of results. Implement corrective measures or improvements as appropriate.
Design, update and implement processes for carrying out inspections, maintaining quality control and operating procedures.
Monitor production schedules, critical paths for projects, and cost control to ensure that homes are completed on time, meet expected quality and on budget.
Accountable for ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and utilized.
Ensure overall appearance and liveability of community while under construction is maintained in an orderly fashion.
Oversee the maintenance of adequate staffing at Community sites to ensure timely construction of homes. Includes overseeing the hiring, evaluation and discipline of staff as necessary.
Foster communication between Community sites and Head Office. Provide direction and support to staff to facilitate the completion of work as per the Production Schedule in accordance with Empire’s standards and procedures. Attend daily, weekly and monthly meetings with staff and senior management to facilitate the flow of information between all parties to ensure the timely completion of construction projects.
Develop and maintain strong, productive supplier and trade contractor relationships. Communicate company’s quality and performance standards to each trade contractor and supplier. Conduct periodic work inspections to ensure that those standards are met.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Education:
University degree in civil engineering / college diploma in construction technology or suitable combination of education and experience
Experience:
10 years experience as a field supervisor or superintendent for new homes construction
Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
Strong leadership and people management skills, including the ability to motivate staff
Highly organized and accustomed to handling multiple tasks
